Experience

Best Friends Forever

My first studio experience as a Graphic Designer was as a Digital Design Intern with BFF in 2017. During my 6 month internship I was able to gain experience over a range of projects and be welcomed into a collaborative and caring team environment. I worked on a number of illustrations and assets for the development of start up and commercial hospitality websites, produced design and photography briefs, and gained insight into the process involved in developing design solution for clients by UX/UI integrated studios.

Australian Council of Trade Unions

I joined the ACTU in 2018 as a Graphic Designer, just as the Change the Rules campaign was beginning to gather momentum. I was welcomed into a team of wonderfully kind, talented, and knowledgeable social media officers and designers, and since then have had the privilege to work on design for:

  • major campaigns such as the Change the Rules and Secure Jobs election campaigns

  • campaigns around key issues such as the COVID Pandemic, wage subsidies for Australian workers, the Inquiry into Sexual Harassment at Work, Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave

  • communications delivering information about significant policy changes to everyday Australians, such as the Federal Budget and minimum wage case

  • the Australian Unions websites and social media channels (and team), contributing to their significant growth.

While I was a part of these projects I worked with a vast network of people including my team members, policy officers, ACTU leadership, local and interstate organisers, printers, and affiliates. This allowed me to quickly learn to collaborate with others who have completely different skill sets, while understanding for myself what I needed in order to carry out my role as the Graphic Designer. The fast paced, constantly changing nature of campaigns has become second nature to my work.

In between major campaigns, the union movement has also seen a shift in focus to membership growth, which has added to my scope of work. Many recent projects include lead generation focused content, eDMs, merchandise design and production, website design, and video animation.
